The Trudge Of Insects   Medium and Size
This book project began in 2002, when I started photographing insects from the collection of the Entomology labs at the University of Massachusetts, with access generously provided by Benjamin Normark. At the time, I was captivated by the idea of looking closely at these beautiful specimens and their death silence created by the wounds of the display pins. Later in 2006, my friend, the boxer poet Brendan Jones agreed to write the 94-part poem that accompanies the images after he saw them while we were both in residence at the Macdowell Colony. I am honored to have worked with him on the project.   Lithography (3 colors), archival digital pigment prints, and letterpress by Daniel Keleher of Wild Carrot Letterpress on handmade paper Size: Binding by Barry Spence, quarter sawn oak boards and alum taw goatskin.
